LFS, and advice

I go to 3 fish stores. 1 for water, 1 for fish, 1 for plants. Recently, I bought a green wolf and a volitan. Ok. I was told something different by every store and different from the people on here, and still i am still confused on what I am doing right and wrong. I came home from school to find my eel on the floor, my niger scratching against the rocks, my Humu Humu doing what he does(riping around the tank), and the volitan chilling on some rock work. Now my problem is, why cant I get a straight answer? I was told the i can have these fish in one tank and they will get along, and my tank is just the right size to hold these creatures. I treated my tank for ick 4 times in the last month, I've done atleast 25 water changes. My water perm. is just right. My fish- everything, are fat and happy. What is going on, I cant tell which ones want to make money and which ones care. I was told the triggers will do great with the lion and the eel. I do not really want to spend any more money until the new tank comes. What to do?

Ok. I have a few issues. Salinity looks slightly high, but is probably ok. Filtration probably needs upgraded, but so far your nitrates look good. Glad you're using a skimmer.
Big issue here is your treatment of ich. There are only 2 surefire treatments for ich. 1) Hyposalinity 2) Copper treatment.
Either way, all inverts need to be removed from the tank (anemones, corals, shrimp, snails, crabs, etc.) HOWEVER if copper treatment is used, then you cannot replace them back in due to traces of copper back in the water, i replaced my entire tank. I chose copper to treat my ich outbreak, it was 99% effective, I've had to dip my tangs twice since however nobody else is showing signs. Hyposalinity is basically lowering the salinity to 1.009 to kill off the parasite. This obviously will not leave trace elements in your tank. Also remember to REMOVE CARBON and other filter media when treating ich.
If a fish looks terrible, give them a freshwater dip. Dip them in tap water, put instant PH packets in it (ph 8.5) is what I use, and follow the instructions on FORMALIN as to how much to put in each gallon. Also, don't forget to dechlorinate the tap water using prime or another similar product.
ALSO a big concern is the lack of a UV Sterilizer. These may be pricey, but they will kill of parasites and other trouble organisms like algae in certain stages. UV sterilizers kill ich in one stage of their life and are pretty effective.
Anyway, good luck.

i do not have a qt tank. so for copper treatments. out of the question. Removing all the media and filtration, sounds great. I have a closed wet/dry. I remove all that i can. my protien skimmer is always off whenever i treat the tank, for anything. When doing a hypo, can everyone stay in the tank, invert and all?

no inverts cannot handle it, and it will turn your live rock in to dead rock. It's a pain. I would invest in a QT tank, or at least get a huge plastic tub, put a filter on it and a heater, your inverts should be fine. Buy a florescent tube and put it on top for proper lighting. Also treat for 2-4 weeks, the longer you wait the more rest assured you're tank is clear.

Stop going to whichever store told you this. Lions and Triggers do NOT mix, especially not a Humu Humu. I had a 3 inch humu humu rip apart a 9 inch Volitans Lion about a year and a half ago. From what I've read, this is NOT all that uncommon.

Then you have the whole issue with a 55 gallon tank...
I'd seriously consider returning all your livestock and starting from scratch by developing a plan and working that.

Tank is way too small for all those fish. With what you have I would put in no smaller than a 75 gal.

dont knock yourself up about the eel they are notorious carpet surfers I lost my yellow headed morray from it after a year in the tank without any problems
The trigger issue YES triggers are decent tank mates for the lion and eel but there are a few that are like the huma huma and other more aggressive triggers will go after the spines of the lion a good choice is the niger trigger and others like it.
do you know what kind of lion you have there are several species that will get way to larger for a 55 gallon tank.
