the first time i ever went to the this LFS, i was treated as if i was a 5 year old who had a 10gallon and i just put table salt in it. thats as simple as it gets. i was 13 at the time, and it really angered me how they treated me as if i knew nothing just because i looked young. thats strike one
well, the next time i go, i have a happy face exited to get a lunare wrasse. i go, find one, and tell this lady to bag it up. she says if i have coral, and i say yes. she said that the lunare will eat it. i found this hard to swallow since i have kept a lunare with corals before, and was ready to take the risk. but, i had no intention to argue so i just said whatever and left. no business for you today LFS. strike two.
well, went to the LFS today with a positive attitude, hoping to get a new anemone and a lunare wrasse(since i was still in search), and maybe even some xenia. well, i go and find an incredible lunare wrasse, and an anemone that looked good. i didnt like the xenia they had in stock. well, i tell the guy to bag up the lunare wrasse, and he does. then, i ask him to get me the anemone, and he says that the lunare will eat it. i found this hard to believe, since i have kept a lunare wrasse in a previous tank before i sold it off. i couldnt even convince the guy to let me buy it. i was practically begging him! im a big risk taker, probably the biggest in the family, so i was ready for the risk. you can even see the niger in my avatar. people said it couldnt be done, but 4 months now and nothing. but no, the guy insisted it would eat it, and i couldnt pass up the luanre, so i took him, and not the anemone. strike three.
so my question is
is it ture that lunares will eat anemones?
and sorry about the long rant. lol

No idea about the wrasse/anemone combo but I have to side with your LFS. It is nice to see a store that cares about the animals that they sell, rather than the numerous stores that will sell anything to anyone while knowing the end result will be the animals demise.

There's really few fish that are capable and more so, willing, to eat a heathly anemone. A large Racoon Butterfly and a small BTA is really the only thing I can see. Sure, some like dogface or trigger, might 'nip' at the anemone, but the intent is not to eat it.
That said, I've (parents tank) had a lunare with a carpet anemone with no problems. I bought a Goldbar wrasse (cousin to a Lunare) and was told the same thing by the LFS, they asked if I had corals and that he'd eat them. My best guess is that they're marked "Non-reef safe" and the LFS assumes that means they eat corals. My Goldbar did fine with a pair of BTA's for the 2 months I had him.

ok, thanks aquaknight. but i really couldnt get them to sell me the anemone. now, i have to go tomorrow or the next day to get it, and its a real bad inconvieniece, especially with the rising gas prices.

same thing I said in your other thread asking the same question. Lunare wrasses dont eat corals or anemone's. IF it bit into a coral a crustascean was likely hiding in or around it.

Yea, it's surprising of the LFS to do that. If it were me, I probably would have came back with "Okay, I'll just buy the anemone for food then."

just so you know there is not an invert alive that will last with a lunare wrasse. it is a killing machine.
