my lfs trys to keep sharks, i just feel bad for the sharks. last time i went there .. i saw 5 bamboos in a 12 inch tank about 8" tall. i mean its just sad, they all are dying and some are going crazy, the bottom of them are all scratched up and red. they also have a bunch of other fish in small tanks, stingrays, horn shark, and anglers all put in a 40 gallon tank. they also keep baby fish in like .5 gallon tanks. i took a few pictures with my camera, but i can't upload it and they will not allow cameras in the store ..

I asked a question like this one. Several told me that due to the HUGE volumes of water in those stores, the fish, although in confined spaces, are not truely unhealthy. Also, its not typically a long-term home for the fish.
I feel bad when I see that as well, but could you imagine keeping every fish you sold in an appropriately-sized tank? :scared:

not all stores have that kind of filration or water movement if the fish are dying they obviously dont have the water flow these sharks and rays need .I have seen stores with 5000+gallon water supplies but I have also sean much smaller set up not designed to house such sensitive species larger species of shark such as nurse sharks are in much less demand so I a LFS does end up with one chances of it leaving the store right away are very slim and returns of larger sharks to LFS is almost impossible .
