LIFE or Death

I've been having a problem with my tomato clown and puffer, it seems that the puffer has been taking bites of the clown every time i turn off the lights in the tank, I'm sure there is no hope for my clown fish, he has two fins that have been nipped at, and he's missing three chunks off of his back, should I just remove him from the tank and let him pass on to the tank in the sky or should I leave him and let the puffer munch away, I know once it dies in the tank the triggers are going to eat too but that just sounds mean, fyi, the puffer killed my Perc Clown too, he was way smaller though so I understood, I've come to believe that Puffers and clown fish are just not compatible,

As far as your last statement, just depends on the puffer. I have seen puffers that did not mind clowns at all. In your case, your puffer just does not like them.
I can't tell you what to do as far as the fish goes. I would not recommend taking him out and killing him, but maybe you could put him in your sump so that at least he could die in peace. It's just cruel if you were to just keep him in there and let him die a slow and painful death with a predator taking bites of him. At least in a sump, he could die in peace.

I have heard that if they are close to dying, put them in the freezer. It is supposed to be a more peaceful death, if that is possible.
I agree, don't let it stay in the tank to get eaten up. I watched a damsel get eaten at one of our lfs's and he wouldn't take it out. Darned wrass

I would take it out of the tank though. Sorry to hear about your situation....Peace.

Sadly, the freezer is probably the more humane thing .
I've heard something about vodka death, though. Might wanna look into that.
Sorry about your fish. :(

I personally would put the clown in a med tank and treat him with melafix to help heel the wounds. he has a 50/50 chance of survival either way.i would def not keep him with the puffer.wounds can heel if they are not to severe.but at least you ill know you did your best.to me its not a lost cause until its dead.JMO

For get where I read it but supposedly the freezer thing is not true, It is a painful death. Something aboutFluids in the fishes body crystalizing as it freezes.
