Lifespan of Frogfish?

i havent read anything definitive on timelines for frogfish/anglerfish lifespans. And usually the only really expensive ones are the bright colors. you could settle for a 'not as pretty' one and see how that goes. what size tank? and just a species tank or with a few chromis' and damsels? and the biggest thing is trying to get them switched over to frozen as far as my LFS tells me.

It's a species only w/ chromis and damsels...tank 34 gallons.
Everybody tells me to buy the wartskin frogfish because there the smallest of all anglers. On this website there over $100.
Do you know any other cheaper ones i can buy for that size of a tank?

They live for a long time provided you don't grossly overfeed them and keep up with general husbandry.. It essentially comes down to how well you're willing to take care of it. Here's an analogy: Some clownfish live 10 years, some live a week (or less in some instances.) I hope this helps...
p.s. that white clown wartskin angler on here looks AWESOME... I would definitely put all $100+ to that guy. It's better to spend alittle more money the first time than to regret having to spend way more in the long run. I'm not a fan of sargassum anglers..eek IMO.

Get one that is bigger than 1-2". It's really too small if you are not use to trying to fed them.
You have to be prepared to provide them with appropriate live foods the rest of their lives if they can't be converted.... freshwater fish are not appropriate.
I would personally buy them at a reputable LFS so you can see how they handle them...they should not be netted and brought out of the water. They need to be treated kind of like a sponge.

Ok guys thanks haven't decided on what fish to go with it's between the valentini puffer or the frogfish right now.
Right now i just put up pictures of my tank filled with cured lr and live sand. It's under the nano thread. Just want to make sure it's suitable for those kind of fish.
