Greetings all, just wanted to share some info with fello techies. I just set up and started a new filter system (new to me) and would like to address this system. I am in no way affiliated with this company and am in no way endorsing it. This is simply an unbiased look at the system. This filter is surprisingly easy to fire up, Simply remove from box, connect hoses, rinse filter baskets and plug it in. It has a very nice priming button you press to expell air from the unit. The filter media is 5 baskets the top is filter floss, then comes a spongetype tray followed by two seraprate bioball baskets and finally an activated carbon basket at the bottom (last stage)
The filter is extremely quite, so much so that I was not sure that it was in fact running. There were no leaks, no starving of prime etc... The one downfall is there is NO on/off switch. Power is immediate upon plugin-this I will be changing to a simple in-cord type swith(roll on/roll off.) The hose supplied is more than adequate for the in and out ports. The shutoff valves are of descent quality and are an added feature. I was surprised with how efficiently the water is filtered. There was a lil yellow to my water as I am on the tail end of a water change cycle, within an hour the water was totally clarified. The filter has only been in operation now for 4 days but there has been no issues at all. The unit comes with a year warranty, probably wil never use it but good to have. The best part of this filter is the cost. they are available from many vendors on ---- for an average of 40.00 US. In my opinion this is a steal. I personally have a couple other canisters by very large name manufacturers, which I won't bother to mention as no good comes from that, needless to say they are in the 225.00 and up range. I can say that when, and I say when because this is not an if, when I need another canister I do know what kind it will be.
For the record this filter is on a 55 gal reef tank that also has another canister filter as well as the protein skimmer. Hope this information will be useful to someone.
