yes its a gross exageration bordering on outright lie.
Dual 250 runs about 45 a month to run. Give or take a bit depending on where you are in the country.

NO!!! I have two 250w MH and a gen-x 70 pump, six power heads, 300w heater, and 250 in compacts... And my bill went up $60.00 per month... I don't think so

Well you can make it up with needing to buy 3 new 60 dollar bulbs every 6 months.
60x3=180/6=30 a month in new bulbs if that makes you feel any better. LOL sorry had to say it.

LOL shes fibing to make you feel guilty. I told you to buy her a new Coach purse and hide it under your tanks stand. Ask her to get the "floogal binder buffer Part A Solution"
She will roll her eyes and not want anything to do with tank chem, but insist and let her find the purse. I am tellin you it will WORK. Also best thing about Coach purses, they could be flouresent colored and your wife will LOVE it. Makes going to the rediculous stores and buying/picking them out a breeze. Women like ALL of them.

In a study done on several MH bulbs, most MH bulbs lose about 22% of their output in about 3 months, then hold almost steady for 9 more months before they begin to drop off again.
So really, depending on the bulb, you only have to change them once a year....

Point is to spend the money and get good MH bulbs and you will get such results! Xm's are the best IMO!

My 3x250w hqi / 8 - 39w t5 / 32 moons way i figure it costs me ~ 30 bucks a month to run.
I can tell you this...if it cost anywhere near that 100's mark I would know about it as my wife takes care of the nipsco bill! :hilarious

Good thinking but I think she's skimming. She should be fired and arrested.

my second tank, with chiller, skimmer, iwaki pump, and 8 t5's ran the bill up about 100$ (but I think the kids are leaving everything on all over the house) so we'll see what happens after the week of crabbing parent crack down.....then I'm considering doing solar panels on the roof. Anothe member suggested this and I'm looking into it now. Not that I don't have anything better to do, but obsessing over these tanks has become my profession....I guess.
