Light Diffuser

I've heard many say it dosn't matter, but I was wondering if anyone has done any research on using an (eggcrate) light diffuser over your tank cuts down on the light getting to your corals?

actually yes bang guy did some par readings a while back. he may chime in and tell you what his results were. I cant rememeber.
but I do believe it did impact overall par. if your using halides the par decrease would be more pronounce to the sides where the eggcrate is at an angle to the point of origin, and it had negligable effects on VHO's where there is no direct point of origin.
