Light distance

I have recently hung my 2x175W MH/60W-PC light fixture about 1foot above my aquarium. I am moderately concerned that this has significantly affected the amount of light reaching the tank. Think I should lower it some more? Or leave as is...

I know halides get a lot hotter. I have VHO's about 5 inches from the surface and have not had a problem. You could probably lower them a bit.
