Light for fish

How much light do fish require? I have a 29 gal that I am holding fish in for my 120 and I only have the small strip light that came with the tank. Should I add more light? I think that it will be at least a month or 2 before I will be able to move them.

What's the best type of light for FO's. My tank was set up with blue and day light type NO's. The fish look different under each (when I individually turn on the colors/lights). I actually like the color of the water under the blue light better than under both or the daylight one.
What's best for the fish? Is that also what is best to bring out the fishes colors? Please advise. Thanks!
