Light modes....?

Ok so i was wondering when i have my biocube on during the day i know i have the lights on but at night do i put it on the moon light or that light that makes the whole tank purple? Wat is this setting for if i do not have it on? Is this some light for corals? (don't have any yet) just wondering thanks!

the moon lights are for ambiance, if you will (completes a 24 hour "lunar cycle")
normally you start with your actinics "purple light", then both on, then the actinics again, then your moonlights on.
think of it is a dawn,day,dusk,nighttime.

I put my acnitics (purple) on for 1 hour, then have the white lights turn on with the purple for 8 hours....have the white lights shut down and run the acnitic for 1 more hour. This simulates sunrise and sunset.

What kind of timing system are you using to achieve that cycle?
