I live in an apartment and I was wondering if I should cover up my tank at night to shield it from the ambient light emanating from various sources in my living space?:notsure:
Tanks S.C.
I agree. Remember that even in the wild, the moon is bright enough to read by sometimes. As long as it is dark enough that the fish are exhibiting normal "sleep" behavior you are fine.
I keep the number of lights to a minimum but my apt is on the small side so I worry that I might be disrupting their sleep cycle. So I'll just keep an eye on the fish and cover up if I notice a problem.
Thanks Everyone.
I cover my tank everynight and during the day when i'm not home. It keeps the algae from growing from sunlight and it keeps the tank dark enough that no light get in at all. my corals have seem to do better and seem to open more when my lights come on and the sheet comes off!!! it works for me....give it a try!!!
A little ambient light is ok. If your tank is in total darkness, it can add undue stress to your fish for there is always a bit of light in their natural environment.
