Light question

I have a PowerCompact light for my 55 gal. I have about 60 pounds of LR and was wondering about corals. Would i need to add any other kind of lighting or anything else for some of your beginner to intermediate corals? I have two powerheads in the tank as well. Any suggestions on what to start with?

Just about everyone here will probably say you need stronger lighting. However, we had some corals in my hubby's tank with compact fluorescent and they did fine until we were able to move them. Of course we didn't get anything that needed particularly strong lighting.

I was answering your post when I accidently closed the page!

Okay, where was I.......Green striped mushrooms, Green Fluorenscent 'shrooms, blue mushrooms, Candy cane coral, Tube Coral says low light minimum required, there are quite a few you could try. But only try one at a time, so you know whether or not they will work. I don't recall if you mentioned how old your tank is, but if it is fairly new, corals won't work unless it is a few months old. Tank needs time to mature as corals are fragile.

i know its like $250 new..
it should say on the bulbs.
or tell us how long they are and we can tell you the wattage
as for what you can keep just about any shroom and zoanthids would be a great start. easy to keep alive and come in some amazing colors

Most likely is 4x65 watt fixture. I would check the bulbs though. If it is, you can keep soft corals and some LPS corals under those.
