Light Question?

Are actinic lights necessary photosyntheticly. Or are they just for adding blue hues to a tank. I am upgrading my lighting and was wondering if I needed actinic or if 10k's would work fine. I plan on adding corals and at least one host anemone for my clowns.

I think most would say that some corals can and do benefit from the actinic lights. The actinic do highlight fluorescing pigments and make your corals look good. I would get them even though they are not needed.
