lighting and base rock question

hey guys
two questions
1st- lighting? wats sufficent enuff for a 55gal
i want some soft corals for the most part
2nd- i found a site that sells 50lbs of base rock for 45bucks
say i added another liek 15-20lbs live how long till i would be done my cycle
or does it even take longer to cycle

Get the best lighting you can afford,so you dont limit yourself try to go with halides if not t-5's or VHO's at least, since you dont what you want to keep go with at least 6 watts a gallon,,,
IMO base rock is useless, go with the Fiji LR you can get it a very good rate,, check this site or a uction sites.. why wait for your base rock to conform to Live rock, it would take many months..
Your cycle time will take 4-6 weeks, when you dont have Nitrite or amonia in your tank anymore..

how long would it take like 5 6 months to be LR
im just tryin to save as much money as i can i wanna try to buy nicer fish if i can but if i spend too much on everything else i wont be able to

6 months to a year under good conditions.

those baserock for $50 is not bad. the bad only thing w them is they r all shape round like a ball, so decorating w it is very limited.

yea thats tru i guess i will get that first n then see wat size LR i will need to buy
imma get my LR from my lfs so i can pick it out
