Lighting and LR

I've been into FO tanks but never had any LR in any of my tanks. I'm starting up a 75 gal in a couple days, what are the lighting requirments for keeping LR. And could LR surive in lower salinity? I was keeping my FO tanks at 1.017 to keep down on parisites.

I would say that standard florecent lighting is no good. You won't get all the cool stuff to grow. The LR will survive the lower salinity, but the stuff in it would not. LR usually has some hitchhikers on it(ie snails, serpent stars) and they don't do well in lower salinity. I would consider a salonoty of 1.021-1.024. I run mine at 1.024 consistly. The LR will do wonders for filtration and will make an excellent addition to your tank. HTH--Bob
