i'm working on getting my tank ready to support corals. i have a good list of equipment i need to buy this may. this cat at my lfs referred me to an online dealer and i found this clutch deal, but i am a firm believer in "you get what you pay for". all of my research thusfar is telling me to expect to spend around a grand on lighting for my 125 but i found this and would like to know if its a good fixture, or a fire hazard:
oddysea 36", 1X250 double ended HQI, 2X65 straight pin power compact, 4X dual blue moon LED $219 for each 36"

don't buy that fixture.
first its not UL approved.
second the bulbs suck so you would need to replace them with real bulbs.
third the ballast does not push bulbs to its full 250 watts. so you would have to replace that to.
now for the PC bulbs
they are even worse than the their metal halide bulbs.
they are straight pin bulbs so real bulbs will cost you more than square pin bulbs.
you should replace their end caps any ways because they are not safe.
so you will end up spending a whole lot more making the fixture safe and to get it the most out of it.
