I've had a lot of luck with a "PowerGlo" bulb, but I also run 2 50/50's on there. But I was doing fine with just the powerGlo.

If you want to keep corals then normal output(NO) lighting will not be enough.
I would suggest power compact lighting because it is compact and powerful thus giving it the name power compact.
Is the 20 gallon long 30" long?
If so may I suggest getting some 55 watt pc's they are about 25 inches long and come in a variety of types now you just need to find out how many will fit under your hood :D :D :D

I have 2 55 watt lights on my tank, and let me tell you, IT'S BRIGHT!
I've had all sorts of stuff since I installed it into my top. Lots of algae, even some corals that sprung up on my LR (although it looks more like seaweed then anything else).
Moving from my 15 watt light to two 55 watt lights for my 20 gallon was one of the best things I ever did!

A 20 long is a shallow tank I believe around 12" high and 30" long.
You can have NO bulbs on this tank and keep most corals just fine. Ones that require high light however will probably require more intense lighting.
I have a 29G right now and with 4 NO bulbs my corals are doing great.
The thing is I could get the same or more light intesity with 2 PC bulbs.
The choice is yours I'am just letting you know it can be done with NO bulbs.
