I was wondering if i have enough light on my tank. I have 1 blue 55 watt bulb and 1 regular 55 watt bulb. I have a 46 gallon bow tank. All of the corals and anemones are nice and open and seem to be very healthy. Is there any reason why I should upgrade or should i just leave it alone? If I should upgrade, what would you recomend and where to get it?

Hi,
I have a 46 bowed tank also and have 2 VHO (Very High Output) bulbs. I actinic and one daylight. For a 46 bowed it would be 36" bulbs which are 95 watts each. A good rule of thumb is 3-4 watts per gallon for anemones and corals. What you have is good, but the anemones and corals will eventually die prematurely and/or be under constant stress.

I bought a 96w retro pc set up on line for $91 shipped! Look around, you can find some good deals. :)

I purchaced 1 x 96w smartlite pc setup for $91 shipped. This is the best price i could find(and i looked). If you find a 2x96w on e-bay for $200 new, i would say thats a good deal. Give me your e-mail addy and i'll send you the site(can't list it on this board).

I have the46 bow and it is hard to get good lighting since the mh hoods are too wide.
I am planning on building my own VHO hood with four 96 watt bulbs.
Currently on the tank I have a double PC hood with 2 55 watt bulbs on the main rectangular part.
On the section that bows I have a single 55 watt PC 24 inch hood.
