Lighting for agressive

ok so lately ive been starting to kick around the idea of an aggro. tank. i'm thinking like 125-200 gallon range. is there any lighting requirements that they need?? since im just starting to think and nothing is written in stone, hook a brother up with as much info as possible

You don't need tons of light in an aggressive tank, so you can use normal flourescent lamps. I still like to mix in some blue actinic lights for making the fish really look good. If it is a really deep tank, then you may want to consider using VHO or Metal halide for all your lighting. If the tank is deeper than about 24 inches, MH will be your best bet. I maintain a 240 gallon fish only tank that has two 175 watt metal halides over it. For fish only, you can get away with about one MH light for every three feet of tank. It looks good, and since there aren't any photosynthetic animals in it, you don't have to worry about the spectrum of the lights.
