every tells me that I should get a red light for my tank sot hat I can see all my critters at nite. But I have 1 big problem. I'm legally blind and cann't see very well at nite. So I guess what I'm trying to ask is what would be the brightest light for at nite? I have a lot of trouble seeing red and is there any other color that i could use? I just wanna see these guys with out straining my eye and get a migrain. Thank you for your imput.

Personally I don't use any light at night, occasionally I use a mag-flash light to check on what possible nocturnal creatures might be around that I don't know of. I think it would be to stressful to have a full light on at night though. They do have a "moon" light being advertised at some lfs's now.

You can get a moonlite for your tank if you want light at night. I would guess that most people don't use any light, but I love my moonlites. They give a nice white illumination to the tank. I don't know the degree of your blindness but I think it would be better for you than red light. Do a search for moonlites. There is a company that makes individual units and also combines them with power compacts.

Thank you for your guys response. I will check out the moonlight and see if there is a lfs that has one hooked up so I can see if it will work for me. Thx again guys.

I rigged up some red christmas lights in the hood, hey it works ;) I only turn them on when i want to see whats going on. Alot of the hermets and snails come out to party at night and you can check out your bristle worm collection. Also some fish (like my purple tang) have a different apperance in the dark.
