Just set up a 80gal with a 29gal sump first question: how much light for my sump? I have a aqua life light from a 38 gal i had , its 65w. It runs the entire length of the sump. My temp in sump is running 78 at night and 80 during the day...display tank is the same. Is this too warm and is this to much variation?? Its been running for two week and I'm getting algae growth already.any thoughts or advise would be great...thanks

IMO a couple of degrees of variation is not a big deal. You should strive for as little as possible, but most heaters and chillers have a 2-3 degree margin of operation anyway.
As for your sump, is it a sump or a fuge? If it's a fuge, what are you running in it? Chances are that your light is just fine, but if you are only running a sump then no light is needed.

Its a fuge i have about an inch of sand some live rock and chito in it. I have a 38 gal going for a year now, but I had to go bigger and this is my first experience with a fuge. btw its a coralife light with a 10000 bulb in it for my sump...what do you think. Again thanks for your response.f
