so my lfs told me my light should be on for 12-14 hours a day.
is this true?
and i have a 65 watt pc lighting and i will add a t5 light that only holds one bulb about 18 watts? would this be a decent amount of light?
and would i be able to keep sps corals?
btw its for a 29 gallon reef tank.

Alot of people only run their lights for 8 hrs a day to save on electric. And I heard you want over 4 watts per gallon minimum.

LFS advice IMO should be let in one ear and out the other.
Your lighting cycle should be on between 8 to 10 hours. Duration is not as important as intensity. That said, your current set up would be sufficient for the majority of soft corals only. Some types of LPS may survive depending on placement but prob not look to good. If your intention is anything more than mushrooms and zoa's I would recommend upgrading your lighting to a good quality HO-T5 fixture or MH. For SPS, I would recommend nothing less than a 6 bulb HO-T5 fixture with individual reflectors, or Metal Halide. HTH good luck.
