Lighting help

Hello I am consierating M.H. lights and I was wondering how many degrees the temperature would go up. I don`t want to end up needing a Chiller.
The fixure I am thinking about has two M.H.s and two compact fluorscent`s.
Thanks SMooTH

It really depends on how close the bulbs are to the surface of the water. Of course, the closer they are, the warmer, and the farther the less warmer. If you have a fairly enclosed hood, I'd suggest adding some sort of fan setup, to circulate air through the hood to try to get rid of the heated air, it will also increase evaporation in the tank which also helps keep things cool, plus allows you to add more makeup water in which you can mix kalk, or other powdered calcium or alkalinity products.

My guess is you will need a chiller. Don't let the cool fall Jax weather fool you. It is hot in the summer here. I had MH on a 30g reef in San Antonio, Tx, along with many fans and A/C, ultimately needed a chiller. Why not VHOs?

Thanks for the reply.
I have four 40 watt floursents/w two of them not working due to bad fixures.
I just want to do it right this time.
I will look into the VHO`s
Thanks again SMooTH
