Hello All!!
After 3 years of having my tank I am ready to start making it a reef!! So my question is what do you suggest for lighting? I don't think I can afford the M H lighting right now.. but am only looking into mushroom and zoos really right now. I have a 55 gal.. hoping to upgrade to a 70 or so at some time. Any advise would be great thanks!

well i would look into PC Power Compact lighting or T-5 both are nice lights for reefs that dont need too much lighting....
with about 4-5 Watts Per Gallon... (i know WPG isnt a very effective rule but it gets my point across) u can keep everything from softies to most LS corals and even a Bubble Tip Anemone ....
obviously u want ur water to be in prestine condition also or lighting wont help keep them alive
anyways depends if ur lookin for a retro-fit kit that u can put in your canopy or just an all enclosed fixture to set over your tank that has legs and all....
do a search and ull find some nice products.... they make a 260W retrofit PC system that would work good and provide enough lighting or u can look into the T-5 setups which are the newer "better" thing that PC
just look around and c what u like
