My nano 10 gallon has been set up for about a week now. 20#LS, 10# live rock. I currently have a 175 metal halide on it with a regular flouresent 15 w coarlife achtinic light. You know the ones that go in the stock hood fixture. I know 175 halide seems alot but i want to be able to keep clams and hard corals. Hes the problem if i made a hood for the tank it would have to be at least 14 inches high so the light we be about 12 iches about the water. Thats taller then the tank itself it would look stupid. So i have maybe considered a 96watt 50/50 coralife aqualight that sits about the tank would fit perfect. I dont think that would be enough though. They also sell a round shape small medal halide that would ang above the tank from the celling. I could just get a 20,000k bulb so it would cover achtinic. Check out the links tell me what you think. ONly thing i have a pendant haging over my 60 gallon hex so i dont want my room to be all gaudy with stuff hanging everywhere.:D

Yea the reason i have the halide on it now cause my freinds brother gave it to me so i was like cool. It has the older style ballast but still does the trick. He had it on a 30 gallon not sure what he kept though. Plus i like the shimmer effect of the halide. Plus 199.99 for the ballast pendant and the bulb not bad.

Oh yea i thought id share something. You have yet to see the ultimate nano till you seen my freinds 10 gallon. 250watt medal halide 10,000k. Think about it you can always use the lite again on a bigger tank. I look at this way if you could afford it why not get the best of the best. Thats saying if you can afford it. Kinda like getting a mercedes with cloth seats. Its nice but could be better:thinking:
