Lighting ? Please help

Wonder if you folks can help.I am between 2 diffrent lights for my tank.The first is a 96w x 2pc light or a 2x165w VHO light.I have a 135 and presently it isa fo tank, but I want to go to the next step and have a fowlr tank.The tank presently has 30w no lighting by the way 0f 2 36"lights end to end(please dont laugh as this is what it came with:) Any help would be greatly appreciated.
P.S.-I know I should probably go with mh lighting but i just can't afford it:(

you only need mh lighting if you are going to go with a reef setup. live rock doesn't need much light at all. lighting for a fish only tank really only needs to be bright enough for you to see the fish. i would buy whichever setup is cheaper in your case.

Thanks for the advice.I have been going nuts with looking for lighting.Any thoghts on the custm sealife smart lite or britelite?

i used a 2x55 watt csl britelight fixture and a 40 watt no actinic on my 90 gal when it was a fowlr tank.

how did you like the fixture?do you think i will notice a diffrence from the30w light to the 96w smart lite.thank you so much for all your help:D

i liked the fixture. very good quality. i ended up gutting the fixture and mounting it ian one of my canopies.

compare prices on more than 1 place. ive seen huge differences in price at different places.
