Lighting Question..

As my other post stated I have been away from Reefs for some time.. The ones that I worked on Where Fairly large (150 - 200 Gal).. And for lights I used VHOs since the Tanks where installed in a False wall, I could add as many as I wanted..
The tank I have Cycling now is a 45 Gallon Hex, and in the open.. I am looking at the PC lighting.. My plans are to build a new Hood and install the PCs, and a Moonlight..
My Question is this.. Does the wattage rules stay the same between PCs and VHOs? Or should the worry be more on the Kelvin (light temp)? The Hex is only 2' deep. Any advise would be appreciated..

if you are asking about watts per gallon you want between 3 and 5 watts. As far as I know they are the same. I am getting pcs for now. then upgrading to MH when I my 125g is ready. MH is supposed to be the best. By the way most Metal Halides come with fans installed to control the heat problem. MH bulbs tend to last about 1 year. In the long run I think you would get more for your money. that is why I will be going with MH as soon as I can.
Maybe this has what you are looking for?
