lighting question

So I am currently in the market for a new light fixture, for a new 90 gallon setup that I am beginning. Have some ideas but would like everyone's opinion! I am looking at getting either a 48" outer orbit with the 250 hqi bulbs 4 54 watt T5's, and 18 lunar lights, or two 250 or 400 watt pendants from Hamilton lighting co. I wouldn't mind going with a T5 ho eight bulb fixture as long as I would be able to keep all my sps and clams. I like the idea of the combination fixture but from what I understand Hamilton makes a better fixture and bulb. Thanks for your help.

What are you wanting to keep? That will determine the amount of light that you'll need.

sps and clams, I have a 55 full reef set up now and it is doing well, but am running out of space for everything. I am up grading to the 90 more of a coral tank. Again would like to be able to keep nearly anything that I want!

any of those 2 fixture u mentioned will be good enought to keep sps and clams as long as the t5 has individal reflectors.

the outer orbit has parabolic reflectors for supplement lighting which is pretty cool! I think I have ruled out the possibility of a strictly T5 fixture

Any of those fixtures would do well with an SPS/clam dominate tank, even the 8 bulb T5 setup (as long as it had the individual reflectors).

Do you have a canopy? On my next tank Im definitely using reflectors like Lumenarc 3 or Lumenbright. Ive even thought about getting a pair of Lumenarc mini stealths to convert my tank from 2x150 to 2x250. but with these setups, youll still need to supplement with actinic.

Two 250w halides; I'm not sure if the lumenbrights or LA IIIs would fit over the top, maybe the luminarc minis would. Or 7-8 individually reflected T5ho would let you keep whatever you wanted.

check out a site called hello lights. they seem to have some of the best prices. if you call them, they can help design a system for you.
