Lighting question...

I converted a 135 freshwater tank to saltwater and kept the same lighting and hood. I haven't really seen any growth on my LR. Will that always be the case? I am assuming the lighting is not strong enough to yield any growth. I have been running it for 8-9 months now and I am wondering if I NEED to graduate to stronger lighting. If so, any suggestions? The hood is jenky and so are the lights, but I thought I would use them for whatever their worth. It is a Fish-only take at this point for the same reason...any thoughts?

the lights are probably Normal output flouresence. as far as the growth goes that is usually found in tanks that have corals because of the nutrients that are in the tank
you are referring to the purple that you see?

If you are referring to coraline algae (as Salt put it... the purple...), there are two reasons why it's not growing.
First, insufficient light.
Second (and more likely), as it is fish only, you are not dosing the system with calcium, so the coraline can't grow.
Unless you are really wanting that color, I wouldn't worry about it.
