Hey so I have a 14g biocube and I've heard someone state they keep the lights on a timer so that the actinic blues come on an hour before the white and stay on an hour after the white. Is this common practice? I rather like the idea personally.

It is a very commong practice. I have this tank and have since upgraded the lighting, but when I had the stock lighting, my actinics were on for an hour before the daylights and an hour after the daylights.
