Lighting question

Well I have no idea on lighting. I have a 55gal with FO and about 40lbs of LR and I really want to get the algie on my rock looking good again. All I have right now are the old common hoods with 2 15w 18,000k power glo's. I don't really think I will end up getting any corals. Also my room above the tank is somewhat limited. Slanted cealing. Should I just go with a PC or what do you suggest? Thanks !!!!

you could get a PFO PC retrofit with one 96 watt bulb included for under $100, that should be sufficient lighting for what you have, or you may wanna go with VHO's

Yea, Yea, I didn't think that I would be getting any corals when I started with saltwater fish two years ago....but we all get the bug. You will probably want to try something new when taking care of the fish becomes easy and you get bored. You will probably want to keep a few of the corals. Just wait. It will hit you when the novelty of the fish wear off and you want to add something new to the tank.

Spending money on lighting will not help your LR that much.
Have you tested Calcium level?
