Seems like a logical thing to do if you're battling high temperatures. Plus the tank looks good at night.
I think if you are having temperature issues you should look into other methods of heating/cooling off your tank. Especially if you have light dependant corals and inverts in tank you don't want to be skimping out on the lights to combat high temperatures, and from what i've noticed even when turning my light schedule from 9 hours down to 7 hours, my temperature didn't change at all. Still in the range of 81 around 3 PM and 78 in the morning (7am).
If you are having heat issues use a fan to cool off your tank, if you are having cooling issues buy another heater, but IMO don't change the light schedule to try and fix temp issues.
