Lighting to use with Wood Canopy

We want to put a wood canopy over our existing 55 gal FOWLR set-up. Probably will use a Pine Majesty canopy as it matches our stand. We currently have a Satellite Compact Fluorescent fixture over the glass canopy on "legs". Do I need a new retrofit fixture that will screw directly into the canopy? What about a fan? If so, can anyone recommend some good equipment? Thanks!

Depends on how handy you are with DIY projects, you could take your current light apart and install the reflectors, bulbs, standoffs etc.. in you canopy. Another option is to buy a retrofit kit and install it in the canopy works out to be the same other than you aren't taking your old light apart. I would use at least one fan in your canopy, you can find fans that will work very well at most computer retailers. Computer case fans are ideal for use around your aquarium since most are low voltage, and they are inexpensive should they need replaced down the road. Your last option is to buy the individual components and put it together, I am a fan of Workhorse and Icecap ballasts and a quality reflector will make a huge difference in the light output of your system.
