I've had my 125g tank for about 8 months now and wanted to start getting into corals. I have found this deal and was wondering if it was big enough for my tank. I'm not sure what lights I need to get for 125g tank so any suggestions would be great! VHO or Metal Halide is what most people have told me but seems to be alot of different ones

READY TO PLUG INTO HOUSEHOLD CURRENT! This item comes with a 1 year warranty from our company! You are bidding on a complete 250 watt 120 volt metal halide remote ballast aquarium light with chrome batwing reflector. This system includes: 1)Refurbished 250 Watt Metal Halide Probe Start Magnetic Ballast built into a USED ballast housing which will be either brown or white. 2) New 250 watt metal halide 10k bulb. 3)New 18" chrome batwing reflector. 4) Electrical cables - Wall to ballast 3.5 feet (Standard 3 prong plug) Electrical cable - Ballast to Light 10 feet. The Ballast housing will either be white or brown. The 1 year warranty covers everything but the bulb.
Thanks for your help.

How long is your tank.?? are you looking at only one 250 mh, that prob isnt enough coverage for your tank. also, how much and what is this unit. is it a retro kit, or pendent?? If your tank is 6 ft, you would prob need 3 x150 mh or 250 mh depending on what you oplan on keeping. along with pc or vho for actinic

My tank is 6ft long. My plans atm are for yellow polyps, mushroom corals, and zoos. Want to start small because I dont want to mess up. I'm still learning about saltwater fish so all info is appreciated. Just dont want to buy the wrong lights and it not be ample light or the wrong one. Also, I'm not good with all the lingo so kindergarden language is appreciated.

if you plan on someday being able to have any coral you want, and clams, then i would go with 175 or 250 wtt mh, and at least one vho for actinic (the blue light for morning and evening). do you have a canopy?? if so i have a few sites with some nice retro kits, that are on sale right now. the 175wtt would be about 5 wtts per gal, and the 250's would be almost 7 wtts
