Lighting.......

Many of the pictures of tanks I am seeing put up seem to have really crappy lighting. They look very dark and bland. More like fresh water aquariums than marine..
Is great lighting very expensive or something?

I think alot of people would not consider that as an insult, might want to rephrase? Yes light are expensive!

Well if they woudn't consider it an insult than whats the problem.

and if they get upset with people telling them their tanks look like crap when they do than they have issues to begin with.

Hehe, I have great lighting and a crappy camera so any pictures I take make my beautiful tank look bad! What's that saying?

the tank in that link you are looking at probably runing high output t5's or meyal halides
metal halides are the crean of the crop when i comes to lighting.... therefor can be pretty pricey. although t5's are 1 step below and not that pricey
