is 185 watts good for a 55gal? About how long should i leave the lights on every day? Thanx and happy new year

185 watts of what? and most people keep their lights on for around 10-12 hours a day at most.

i leave mine on for only 8 hrs a day

If you are talking PC lighting, its good enough easy softies, nothing more. T5's you can keep leathers, and some hard corals.
