Depends actually......140 watts of standard house lights....NOPE!!.....140 watts of vho 50/50's ...YUP!!
What kind of lights are you using and what type?
Thats some pretty good light, just make sure you get 5,500K or higher white bulbs and a blue atintic bulbs and you will be able to grow some cool things.

Nice start for a 30 gal reef....110 watts of vho & 30 watt no actinic.....should give you a good system. What do you plan to keep in your reef?
Also if the 110 is vho....what type/spectrum.....do you know? I'd suggest a daylight or 50/50 would go nice with the actinic.
I think that would be moderate lighting for a 30g...but I would suggest if you are going to keep hard corals to consider maybe one more VHO or maybe some PC's...maybe a whole new retro b/c you buy too many expensive corals!...Don't want them to fade away on ya!!...Maybe three or four 75w VHO'.....man that would be sweet!! But sounds like you have a good start....just research your corals lighting needs b/f you buy them!! GOOD LUCK AND HAPPY REEFING!
i would definately bump up the actinics though. they do good things for your tank. maybe switching the vho to 50/50 would do it, or go with vho actinic and 30 10,000k superdays. i think you would like that alot more
