Lighting ?

I have a 250w MH on my 54 gallon corner tank..it also has blue led lights.
1. Do i need actinic bulbs also, or do the led lights do the job
2. I was reading that the LED's can stay on 24 hrs a day..i leave my halide on for 8 hrs and have been just putting LED's on for 2 before MH and 2 after

The actinic bulbs are for your viewing or if you want to have more of a dusk/dawn thing going on. I leave my 6 blue LEDS on 24/7 and the whites LED come on with the MH. I do run 2 10k and 2 actinic t-5s though. What kind of bulb are you running in you MH?

phoenix 250w...so i can run the MH for 8 hrs and leave the blue LED lights on 24hrs..or should i use the LEDs for the dusk to dawn effect? I was told i didn't need the actinic bulbs so i didn't get the halide with those bulbs.

You dont need anymore light IMO. The blue LED have no bearing on the corals. There just isnt enough of them. Is your mh a 14k? my.02

can anyone suggest what kind of lighting I need on my 75 gal. tank. I want it for reef/coral. Thanks for any suggestions
