I was wondering if someone could tell me a good lighting system for a 55 gallon. I plan to put some anemones in it later and was wondering want the proper watts would be. Right now I have 2 18 inch 15 watt flouresents in. Is this enough light for it or should I upgrade? If so, to what? Thanx

thats not nearly enough light, you could go with 4 VHO's 440 watts, PC's or even metal halides. But please dont try an anemone w/ the light you have now.

I agree with Aggie; I have tried with 80 watts before and was loosing my BTA until I upgraded to 380 watts of VHO, after that my BTA resonded by growing to softball size and splitting twice in my 55 and I now have three! :) A 4 light VHO 380 or 420 watts would do you well.

I would say 4 110 watt VHOs or 4 96 watt Power compacts (more expensive) Or half that and maybe a 175 halide. Just my .02
