Is it bad to leave my lights on 14 hours per day?
I recently upgraded to 96w CF on a 30 gal.
Also. Since I upgraged my lights, I see lots of bubbles coming out of the sand. Why is that?
Thanks,
Brian

IMO- leave the lights on around 8hrs - the more you leave the lights on the more you will be cleaning the glass or acrylic. algae seems to run wild with the lights feeding it ....
as for the bubbles , sounds like your sandbed is doing it's job -
best of luck ...

Agreed. 14 hours I believe is to long. You will see a boost in alge, diatomes and hair alge. I leave mine on for only about 8.

I leave mine on for 8 during the week, and then on the weekend (when I am home a little more) I let them run for 12.
This has worked well for me.

All of my tanks are on for a full 12 hours per day. Actinics for an hour before and an hour after MH's cut on/off, leaving MH's on for 10 hours per day.

My atinics are on 12 hours. 1 MH comes on 1 hour after the atinics come on, the 2nd MH comes on 2 hours after that. Reverse for shut down. It kinda similates the sun as it goes across the sky.
