lights and hoods

I am building a room around what i want to be a 125gal saltwater reef/fish tank. I understand that I probably need 3 250watt Metal halide bulbs, Supplemented with several VHO or PC bulbs 300-400 watts worth. I do have a beam above my tank so that I can hang heavy stuff from it. I would like to put all the lighting in the same hood.
My question(s) <img src="graemlins//confused.gif" border="0" alt="[confused]" />
1) does it make a difference on how much space there is between the tanks and the canopy?
2) does anybody have any pics or diagrams of combo canopies?
thanks

Thanks for your post David, I am a "pre-newbe" :D meaning I do not even have the tank yet. It's purchased but still on display in the pet store.

I have the thermal sensing fan by Icecap and I love it. It speeds up and slows down depending on the temp. Moves a lot of air and is quite quiet! It's not the cheapest fan, but is works great!

Kirk,
If you want to comparison shop a little you might also try ahsupply.com. I found them to be a little less expensive than some others.
