Hello all. I am thinking about getting a gold stripe maroon for my 120g. I only have 192 watt lights. Is there an anemone that will live in low lights for him to host?

Not a hosting variety unfortunatly, but it would be able to keep the pest anemones which most of us try to kill.

Typically you would be looking in the neighborhood of 4-5+ watts per gallon, and on a tank that size Metal Halides would be best. In fact a VHO/MH combo would do very nicely, but as you many know that's a lot of cash.

I should have said 4-5 wpg TO START WITH. This should/maybe, allow someone to keep the two lower light anemones like the condylactis and the Bubble tip anemone. However the watts per gallon rule bites the dust with smaller tanks, especially nano tanks. For instance an anemone would not survive in a 10 gallon tank with only 40 watts of lights, or even 50 watts for that matter.
When you get to a 24 inch deep tank MH lighting is necessary especially if the anemone is a sand dweller, cause the fluorescent lighting doesnt have the PAR value to reach the bottom of the tank like MH lighting does.
My opinion is that 260 watts of PC would be able to work. I used 360 watts of VHO on my 55 and did very well, I know others that have gotten away with less. The example here is for a Bubble Tip Anemone. I think 260 PC would be ok, but more would be better.
