i have a rbta and a major hair algae problem. can i do a 3 day tank blackout without harming it?

Yes, remember that the sun doesn't always shine on the reef. When major storms blow in the reef can go several days with no or very little light. I have done test with lights being off for two weeks. The RBTA will lose some of the rose or orange color and turn a hot pink when it starts to lose the zooxanthellae. I would continue feeding while the light is out.

3 days of no light will do no harm to rbta. but after 3 days, ur green hair algae will come back. take care of the reason why u r having hair algee sissue to begin with.
