Lights over wet/dry?

lol another newb question. Ive seen many tank pics with lights mounted over the wet/dry. Im sure there is a good reason for it, but what is the reason?

if there is no fuge compartment to go along with the wet dry it would be pointless. For fuge it helps grow macro algae if used and gives the pods/creatures a day night cycle although some feel doing that is trivial.
