Lights

I have had my 55 gal. tank set up for a week now. 5 of my original 6 damsels have died. (yes I know now u arent "supposed" to cycle the tank with fish). The last one looks like he will make it though. I will slowly add live rock untill I have at least 1.5 lbs. per gallon.
Anyway question is right now I have just regualr lights. I need to get 50/50 actestix and a blue light from what LFS tells me to support coralline algae and low light corals. Will my regualr aquarium lights be ok for the next month or 2???

The sooner you get those better bulbs in there, the better. But a 50/50 and an actinic may be too blue. You may want to rethink that combo.Maybe a 10k and a blue.Or two 50/50's....

Live Rock - requires Low to High Lighting (basically anything) Fish typically require light to be awake. Until you begin creating a reef tank normal lighting will do. I've had one cheap 48" bulb on my tank for a year without any problems, except my polyps I place as cloe to the light as possible.
I am replacing my hood and lighting system in the next two months when I migrate to corals
