Sorry if this seems silly but I just wana be clear I get this...
MH= metal halide
what kind of lighting are true blue actinics ? pc's,flurecents ?
basically what are pc's,flurecents,vho's, and t5's
sorry and thank you for clarifying things for me.

Yup, Metal Halide is MH

PC = Power Compacts. VHO (Very High Output) and T5 are all basically flourescent lighting. Actinic is basically a color if you will - the "blue" bulbs you see, generically
are "actinic" bulbs and basically enrich the blue wavelenghts available in the tank. This is because blue wavelengths dominate on a reef because red light is absorbed very quickly in water. So boosting the blue spectrum is trying to recreate a natural available spectrum for photosynthetic reef animals.

thanks
Yes, actinics are Fluorescent. Fluorescent is a type of light bulb. Technically, PC, VHO and T5 are all fluorescent bulbs. PC and VHO are older technology than T5. T5 bulbs are much thinner than PC and VHO and can put out more PAR (the usable light from a bulb) than PC and VHO. They key with T5 is to get a good reflector for each bulb.

LOL simple answer is yes they are the same type of light with different output strenght
normal flourescents being the lowest then
powercompacts then VHO and then finally the T-5;s with the highest output.
just a different way to look at it LOL
