So limestone doesn't raise PH?????

Well, theoretically, it should. Or at least should be used in tanks where a higher pH is desired, eg in African cichlid or saltwater tanks. This is also why people often use calcareous sand...all help to 'buffer' the water. It isn't necessarily enough to keep a system at a stable pH though.
