What you you all think is the limit to the number of peppermint shrimp you can put in a 30 gallon tank? All I have are two clowns and a lot rock. I think they are neat and want to use them to control aptasia.
Thanks.

There is no bio-load limit,if that's what you mean. Personally,I wouldn't keep more than 5-6 in a 30. They need to eat,remember.

General rule is one inch of fish per 5 gallons of water in a reef tank. It can be pushed a little depending on what type of fish is in there..

In the 30 I had, I put in 2 clowns, 10 blue hermits 3 red hermits, 20 snails, 1 CBS, 1 Cleaner Shrimp, and 12 peppermint shrimp. Never had a problem, and the shrimp ate any extra flak food that sank to the bottom. This may have been too much but like i said, never a problem

I myself an running a 55 with maybe 15 pepermints, and 5 skunk cleaners, and well as a bunch of snails and hermits. I do not know if this is causing a problem as yet, but I like the shrimp more than I do the fish. I feed them twice a day with flake, and the tank comes alive, everything including the hermits smell it when I drop in a pinch.

The only limit to how many you can add is how much food they have to eat. If they aren't starving, then you shouldn't have a problem. Of course, I think more than a few peppermints in that tank would look a little odd, but that just comes down to personal preferance. Just like hermits and snails, the amount you add basically comes down to personal preference and available food.
