lion fish & 55g tank compatible??

I have a 55g tank with live rock. Is it ok to put a lion fish with a couple of compatible fish in this size tank. I dont want to take on an aggressive fish tank if the space is not recommended. I just lost my "community tank" to the case of the ich.

So it will be about a month before I put fish back in and was looking at doing a lion fish.

you could Do A dwarf and One or two other good sized fish. I myself am Planning on Doing a Dwarf zebra and A maroon Clown. Volitans Get too big. You could probly do a Rusells or Radiata if u have good filtration

I was thinking the dwarf would be neat to have and be safe. I have been doing some looking to bad all I have in my area is *****

I did not realize u could put a maroon clown with a dwarf! What other kind of fish are compatible and what are some things to look for to know it would be ok to bring home?!!

All lions are compatible with other fish as long as:
A.) the dont fit in their mouthes
B.) the fish arent too agressive towards the lion
You see, lions dont really care about tankmates, as long as they dont fit in their mouth they wont bother em. On the other hand, they dont do well with triggers and some puffers cuz they nip at the lions fins...

thank you, you both have been a great help. I am so mad/sad that I lost what fish I had to the ich I just dont want to depend on getting fish at the local ***** anymore. I wont be so quick to add this fish etc etc if I have a nice lion and a few others

I would get like a dwarf lion, a snowflake eel and a large tomato clown

Hey Jr8BudCar...i dont know where u live in MD, but near Indian Head Highway there is an awesome Marine Fish Store called Roozens. Its a nursery, but they have a huge warehouse in the back with Marine Supplies. They carry everthing u would need and have about 50 tanks stocked with Fish, Inverts, and Corals. Check them out, cuz IMO you're taking a big chance when buying fish from *****. Theres also a few good stores in Northen VA. Marine Scene, Wallys Aquarium

hey PaulShaw23 thanks a bunch I live right in laplata so that is a short ride. I go over to a place called Salt Water Aquariam that is on rt210 next to Jack Winegardiner chevy. I had not heard of this place you said but I will be there on Wed. Thanks. (Yes ***** has cost me my last dollar)

i honestly think someone should warn people about *****. too many people have lost their fish to deased fish from *****. Your the sixth person so far.
well im happy to hear you have a new source to shop at. Just make sure as _ell you take a very good look at the the fish in the tanks from now on. I once bought my self a coral beauty 6 weeks ago and it had some kind of parasites on it and my buddy at the store wasnt to sure i should get it. Well it doing just great thanks to my cleaner shrimp. Man that cleaner shrimp is my right hand fish in my tank.
Like i said just monitor the tank for 5-10 min. sometimes i even take 20 mins when i got my next fish in my sights.

thanks, yep I went to the new source yesterday and the place is crazy:jumping: I am talking 50 tanks of fish and about 25 tanks of nothin but corals. They were very nice and I will be picking up my dwarf lion & sfe this weekend. Thanks to u guys I have learned a ton.

Glad to hear it man. Yea the first time i saw Roosen's i was skeptical cuz it juts looks like a nursery but then they took me far back into the greenhouse and when i saw what they had i didnt wanna leave. How was their prices for the Lion and SFE?

yeah, i didnt know what to think when we got there also. The dwarf lion was 28.00 and the eel was 22.00. My fiance was like this place has fish?? He loved it also , hes got a small tank he is going to start a reef tank. So needless to say he was loving it!!:happy:
